Systems Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced IT professional for the position of Systems Engineer. Systems Engineer will not only manage all internal IT systems, but will also manage and maintain local customers’ servers, workstations, and network equipment. This is a traditional IT consultant support role where the candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various information systems to include servers, network equipment, and software applications
  • Research, recommend, design, and implement hardware and software solutions
  • Implement, manage, and maintain Storage Area Networks (SAN)
  • Manage Virtualization Technologies (VMWare, XenServer, Hyper-V)
  • Manage network security solutions (Firewall, Network Access Control, IPS, IDS, etc)
  • Performs system backups and recovery
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity
  • Makes recommendations for new equipment and services
  • Performs on-site and remote technical support
  • Creates and maintains good technical documentation
  • Strong Communication/interpersonal skills
  • Provides emergency on-call support.

Systems Technician

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Systems Technician. The Systems Technician is responsible for support within all aspects of the technology team.  This includes, but is not limited to, the processing of daily Helpdesk tickets, installation, setup and configuration of workstations and servers in our datacenter and our customer locations, and providing assistance to the Systems Administrators and Systems Engineers as directed.  In addition the Systems Technician is responsible for developing, organizing and maintaining documentation pertaining to all client network Infrastructure for the purposes of cross training and succession troubleshooting.

Systems Technician should also have a strong understanding of typical end-user applications and hardware for daily support purposes. The Systems Technician will be required to travel to local customer locations and must have reliable transportation.

This is a traditional IT consultant support role where the candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • First and second level contact for Help Desk
  • Generate and handle tickets via Help Desk ticketing system
  • Installation of end-user equipment, including desktops, laptops and printers.
  • Assists in the implementation of various information systems to include servers, network equipment, workstations, and software applications.
  • Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Performs system backups and recovery.
  •  Troubleshoot and monitor activity on the network.
  • Performs on-site and remote technical support.
  • Creates and maintains good technical documentation
  • Strong Communication/interpersonal skills
  • Provides emergency on-call support.
